E-2 Visa Process for Foreign Teachers – CUBE Recruiting
Foreign teachers must get an E-2 visa to work at a school in Korea.
If you do not already have a visa, follow these steps:
Step 1: Send your visa documents to Korea by mail (FedEx, DHL, or UPS recommended).

Step 2: Once your documents arrive, your school will submit them to the immigration office.
Wait 5–7 business days to receive your visa issuance number.
Step 3: You will receive the visa issuance number via email.
Then visit your local Korean consulate to submit your passport and apply for the visa.
Required documents:
- Original passport
- Visa application form
- Passport photo
- Visa fee
- Visa issuance number
Step 4: Once you receive your visa, book your flight and come to Korea.

What to do once you arrive in Korea:
Step 1: Get a Medical Checkup
Visit a government-approved hospital (designated by the Ministry of Justice).
Tests include chest x-ray, urine test, blood test (including TBPE and HIV).
* Important: Do not take medication for at least 2 weeks before your checkup, as it can affect your test results.
Step 2: Apply for an Alien Registration Card (ARC)
This is an ID card required for opening a bank account and setting up a mobile phone.
You must visit the immigration office in person to apply and provide fingerprints.
Required ARC documents:
- Original passport and copy
- 20,000 KRW (approx. $20 USD)
- Application form
- Passport photo (3.5cm x 4.5cm)
- Medical checkup result
- Copy of school's business license
ARC processing time: 2–3 weeks
